The conference will be held at the Université Paris Diderot - Paris 7 along the left bank of the Seine, close to the new library building the "Grande Bibliothèque Nationale de France François Mitterrand".

The meeting place can easily be reached by subway (metro line 14) and suburban train (RER C) – station "Bibliothèque François Mitterrand", as well as by bus (buses 62, 64, 89, 325 – bus stop: Bibliothèque-François Mitterrand – or bus PC2 – bus stop: Porte de la gare or Boulevard Massena).

Taxis can easily be found in Paris, in particular at the main exits of the airports and train stations. The venue of the meeting can of course also be reached by car, but this is often difficult due to frequent and substantial traffic jams. In addition, parking spaces are very limited close to the University. We therefore advise meeting attendees to use public transportation or taxi to reach the conference venue.

Getting to, and travelling within, Paris

Paris can easily be reached by air or train

There are two main airports in Paris: Paris-Orly, located south of Paris, and Paris-Roissy Charles de Gaulle, located north of Paris. Most international flights arrive at Paris-Roissy Charles de Gaulle, with the notable exception of those from Spain and North Africa that usually arrive at Paris-Orly.

It takes approximately 1 hour to reach the conference venue from either airport. We advise attendees to use the suburban train (RER B) to reach central Paris – attendees should stop at station « Chatelet-Les Halles » and at this station take metro line 14 (direction Olympiades) to reach the station "Bibliothèque François Mitterrand". A one-way ticket costs about 10 euros. A taxi from the airport is quite expensive (at least 60 euros) and the drive can be time-consuming and frustrating in the (frequent) case of traffic jams.

There are several train stations in Paris that are connected to each other and to the conference venue by metro and/or RER trains. If you come from Belgium, the Netherlands or Germany using Thalys trains, or from United Kingdom by Eurostar trains, you will arrive at Paris-Gare du Nord. To go to the University, you should take the RER B train (directions Saint-Rémy/Massy-Palaiseau/Robinson) and stop at station « Chatelet-Les Halles »; at this station take metro line 14 (direction Olympiades) to reach the station "Bibliothèque François Mitterrand".

Most trains from Germany and Switzerland arrive at Paris Gare de l’Est. To go to the University, you should take metro line 4 (direction Porte d’Orléans) and go to station « Chatelet »; at this station take metro line 14 (direction Olympiades) to reach the station "Bibliothèque François Mitterrand".

Trains from Italy, Switzerland and Spain often arrive at Paris Gare de Lyon. To go to the University, you should take metro line 14 (direction Olympiades) to reach the station "Bibliothèque François Mitterrand".
Other, less frequently used train stations are Paris-Austerlitz (connected to the University by the RER C), Paris-Bercy and Paris Saint-Lazare (connected to the University by metro line 14), and Paris-Montparnasse (connected to the University by metro line 6, followed by line 14).

It will take between 20 and 45 minutes to reach by metro and/or RER the conference venue from any of these train stations. A one-way ticket for any journey inside Paris costs 1,60 euros. Information about trains and train stations can be found on the SNCF website.
