2010 conference in Paris
Dear members,
After our successful second meeting in Ghent last summer, we have started preparing the 2010 meeting in Paris. This meeting will be held from 6 to 9 July 2010 at the Université Paris Diderot, Paris 7, along the left bank of the Seine, adjacent to the new library building, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, François Mitterrand.
Local organizers
We are very pleased that Didier Casane, Michel Vervoort and Patrick Laurenti are willing to be the local organizers at the Université Paris Diderot, Paris 7.
New council members and officers
The call for candidates by the nominating committee was answered by 7 candidates for the council. However, four candidates were from the UK and because the UK contingent already has the maximum number of members, there were exactly three candidates left for the three vacancies in the council. The candidates from the UK will all be able to participate next year in the election, when the term of most current members ends.
There were no new candidates for officers. There are, thus, no elections necessary. We plan to have the new council members and the new executive committee (see below) confirmed at the next business meeting in Paris. In 2010, we will then have combined elections for new council members and officers-elect.
New council members:
Ram Reshef (Israel)
Ariel Chipman (Israel)
Sabine Zachgo (Germany)
The new executive committee:
Richard Bateman (UK), Vice President
Patricia Beldade (Portugal), Secretary
Robert Cerny (Czech Republic), Fund raising officer
Frietson Galis (Netherlands; continued), President
Gerhard Schlosser (Ireland), Program Officer
Michael Schubert (France; continued), Treasurer
You will soon receive more information on the Paris meeting.
Best wishes on behalf of the new executive committee,
Frietson Galis
